KraussMaffei is consolidating all its business divisions (injection moulding, extrusion and reaction process technology) and its previous brands KraussMaffei, KraussMaffei Berstorff and Netstal within a single, unified brand: KraussMaffei. The company said this repositioning is in line with the “Compass” corporate strategy, which has already brought about fundamental changes with the launch of the Digital & Service Solutions (DSS) business unit. Visual evidence of the restructuring can be seen in a new corporate design throughout the company, which will be rolled out to a wider audience during K 2019.

The synthetic rubber producer Arlanxeo announced that it will participate in its second K fair under the theme “future mobility”, as trends like electrification and autonomous driving will fundamentally change the way of transportation in the next decade. According to the company, already today it sees new means of transportation emerging, alternative ways of mobility sharing and usage as well as new kinds of energy generation and storage, all responding to the need of a more sustainable and responsible future mobility.

Mexichem has announced a name change. The company’s new name is Orbia Advance Corporation. The company said that this is part of its new strategy related to the operational reorganisation of its global businesses and the launching of a new corporate brand including a new logo concept, the ImpactMark. This reflects a year-long process to transform the company into a future-fit, human-centered organisation, while elevating the work its five global business groups are doing to address the challenges that define how people live and thrive today and in the future, said the company in a statement.

PolyMax TPE, a custom TPE compounder and manufacturer of thermoplastic elastomers has announced a significant expansion of its production capacity, with an equipment investment of more than USD 1.5 million in July 2019. The company said that it is experiencing accelerated growth rates, exceeding forecasted figures, in response to high market demand for its custom TPE technologies and proven customer-centric service models. In addition to increased capabilities, the company will be adding additional employees to operate the new material production line.

Plastic packaging extends the shelf life of food, plastic parts in cars reduce their weight and thus CO2 emissions. In medicine, plastics ensure maximum hygiene standards and make medical products safe. Despite its many advantages, this important raw material has come into disrepute for some time now – because of the plastic waste that pollutes entire regions and floats in huge carpets on the world’s oceans. But this problem can be solved. As the concept of “circular economy” plays a central role in this, it has become a hot topic at K 2019, which will take place from 16 – 23 October 2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

On 7 August 2019, Lawrence J. Johnson has been appointed new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Saargummi Group. Johnson will take over from Michael Lorig, who has decided to pursue new opportunities outside the group. Lorig has been working for the group since 2007, where he held various positions, notably Chief Operations Officer and, since September 2014, Chief Executive Officer.

Songwon Industrial Group announced the unexpected death of Maurizio Butti on 7 September 2019. Butti was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Board Member of the company, a position he held since March 2016. Prior to this role, he was Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Songwon and a member of the group’s Executive Committee.
