Barlog Plastics: 24th EKTT to be held as a purely virtual expert forum
The 24th Engelskirchen Plastics Technology Days (Engelskirchener Kunststoff-Technologie-Tage – EKTT) of Barlog Plastics GmbH on 17 and 18 June 2021 will be held purely virtually for the first time this year. Due to the ongoing and unpredictable pandemic situation, the decision was made to hold a digital event with a focus on expert presentations.
The two-day event will feature 18 webinars with presentations around the key topic of "Sustainability, Innovation, Digitalisation", each followed by question-and-answer sessions with the speaker. In this way, the exhibitors have the opportunity to pass on their knowledge to the audience in the form of a 30-minute expert presentation and to encourage an exchange of ideas. Participation in the webinars is free of charge for speakers and the audience.
"The still ongoing Covid19 pandemic has prompted us to hold this year's EKTT purely virtually," said Peter Barlog, managing partner of Barlog Plastics GmbH, based in Overath near Cologne, Germany. Surveys among exhibitors and participants convinced the plastics expert to focus the digital EKTT exclusively on high-quality technical lectures and not to offer an accompanying exhibition in 2021.
With the demand of the automotive industry for a continuous CO2-neutral supply chain and the associated ambitious time targets, the topic of sustainability has finally reached the agenda of all manufacturers of technical plastic parts, said the organiser. "For many companies, despite all their personal aspirations to act in a more climate-conscious way, this is an additional burden in troubled times. Customer markets, above all the automotive industry, are in a state of upheaval and the race to optimise the efficiency of manufacturing with the means of digitalisation has long since begun. The demand for a rapid shift to sustainable industrial production is the third major transformation that needs to be shaped at the same time," said Barlog.
